The Long Beach City College Foundation has been serving the Long Beach community and our College since 1978. The ability of the Foundation to step in with special projects and funding for critical needs allows LBCC to remain on education's cutting edge. It is vital both to the maintenance and expansion of quality at the College that our work continues to grow. The private sector has stepped forward through the Foundation to assure that growth through individual, private foundations, corporate donations, annuities, and Associate Group involvement. The Associate Groups cover many areas, so you can select the group which most fits your interests. Most groups meet once per month during the Academic Year. The groups are:
- Adapted Physical Education Associates
Offers support to disabled and stroke affected students. The Group focuses on improving equipment and facilities for disabled students. - Athletic Associates
Assists more than 60 men's, women's, and co-ed P.E. programs. This Group raises funds to support all of the athletic programs. - Child Development Associates
Works with the Child Development and Parent Education Departments to assist with equipment needs. Provides scholarship support to students in the program. - Emeritus Associates
Provides an opportunity for retired faculty to participate through retiree recognition, service, and social events. - Fine Arts Associates
Supports programs and students in the Art, Music, Radio T.V., Speech, and Theater departments. Encourages attendance at student productions and exhibits and provides scholarship support to students in those programs. - Friends of Languages Associates
Supports programs and students in the Foreign Language and English as a Second Language (ESL) departments. Provides scholarship support to students in those programs. - Health Care Associates
Provides support for the Nursing and Allied Technologies programs. Addresses specific needs of the Health Care area. - Library/Learning Resources Associates
Enhances the College's collection of books and learning resources. Provides student support through the center for learning assistance, media services, and adult education. - PCC Vocational Associates
Supports technical and vocational areas of the Pacific Coast Campus. Represents the needs of the trade areas to the community. - Science & Math Associates
Supporting the departments of Science and Math. Currently working to raise funding for completion of the new LBCC Planetarium. - Senior Studies Associates
Raises funds for the Senior Studies programs at the Pacific Coast Campus.
